Why Can’t Church be More Like Camp…Part 2

Luther Seminary, in St. Paul, MN, is hosting an event titled “Why Can’t Church Be More Like Camp” on Nov. 26-27. I’ve been honored to be one of the speakers. I think the question being raised is really significant….for two reasons.

1) In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America 250,000 youth and children attend one of their camps every summer!!!!
2) 3,400 young adults work at these camps every summer.

In other words, if you want to be successful in connecting with children, youth and young adults take a look at what is happening at camp! Why can’t church be more like camp…INDEED!

This link will get you to the event.

  1. Camp is active, church is passive. At camp people are outside being active, worshipping outdoors, interacting on an open, unstructured level. All the energy young people have has a place to go. By comparison church is rather passive and young people are anything but passive!
